The artwork of
Francie Walls-Gunther combines an intuitive and lifelong connection to nature
with a passion for drawing. As a child, she drew horses
incessantly. She continued to nurture her artistic skills in spare
moments while raising three children, and spent as many weekends and
holidays as possible in her beloved Laurentian Mountains. Finally,
in 1999 - when the children had grown up and moved out - she left her
part-time job and moved to a house beside a lake in the woods north of Ste
Agathe des Monts, where she dedicates herself fully to painting and
sketching scenes from nature. Drawing inspiration from the
wilderness around her, she creates her art as a way of honouring the
animals, birds, trees and the rest of the natural world.
Francie
works in pencil and watercolour. She has studied for many years with
Renate Heidersdorf and more recently with Claude Gauthier. She's
taken part in group exhibits in Montreal and in Ste Agathe, and
participated in the 2001 EastSide Culture Crawl in Vancouver. Her
original works and limited edition prints are hanging in private
collections in Britain, Australia, the U.S.A., and Canada.
