Tracy was born in St Ives, Cornwall, daughter of ceramicist John Struthers. She ran her own handknitwear business in the 1980's, after which she took time out to be a mum and returned once more to her lifelong passion for drawing and painting. She now works from her home on the shores of Scapa Flow in the Orkney Islands of Scotland painting nature in detail.

Working exclusively in watercolours, she produces exquisitely detailed flower studies and botanical work, animal portraits and wildlife art. Much of her work is commissioned by private individuals, companies or organisations and many of her paintings have been reproduced as fine art prints and cards. She is currently working on the full colour illustrations for a bird book that will be published in 2008 and has recently discovered miniature art, producing tiny paintings 'in the little' and joining the Hilliard Society (UK). She is an active member of Art Helping Animals, donating a percentage of sales to rescue charities and animal welfare groups.
