Dag Peterson, born 1939 in Varberg, Sweden, now living in the Swedish village Kinnahult,
is one of his country's most popular and appreciated wildlife artists.
Over the years, his work has been shown in numerous exhibitions, both in Sweden
and abroad. His paintings have been bought by museums abroad, municipalities,
county councils, banks and companies, but particularly by thousands of private
collectors. Pencil, watercolor, gouache, acrylic and oils, he has used every medium,
and his detailed bird lithographs are greatly admired.
Traveling to exciting locations with interesting wildlife such as the Falkland
Islands, Svalbard and many remote island in the Atlantic sea, is a natural part
of his activities. Meeting and socializing with like-minded colleagues from
around the world provides an important source of inspiration.
His first book "Meet the Golden Eagle" (1997) is already sold out.
His second book, "Rovfaglar och ugglor i Norden" (Birds of Prey and Owls in
Scandinavia), was published in Sept. 2001. By WWF in Sweden,
it was selected as the best written and illustrated wildlife book and therefore
honoured by the swedish King Carl Gustaf XVI, to be the "Pandabook" of the year
of 2002.
The release of his lastest book “Öar långt borta” was on August 14, 2004.
Over a hundred of his paintings are published in this book.
It is about fauna and nature of the Svalbard
and Falkland Islands. Peterson provides an exciting and instructive description
of a vulnerable nature demanding our attention.
